The LCLC is a multi-purpose recreational facility opened in 2013. As the sport, recreation, and community hub for the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, the facility houses an NHL-size arena (Clearwater Seafoods Arena) with a capacity to seat 1,200 spectators; an aquatic centre (BMO Financial Group Aquatic Centre) suited to both leisure and competitive users; a therapeutic pool; and a public library. Other multi-purpose spaces include community rooms, a fitness studio and meeting spaces.

The LCLC has made it possible for Lunenburg County to attract international events such as the Canadian Tire Para Cup and Esso Cup, as well as play host to musical legends such as Kenny Rogers and Tanya Tucker. The facility has become a key contributor to improving the local economy, attracting new residents and improving access for existing residents of the county.
The state-of-the-art facility was designed with efficiency, smart use of space and energy conservation in mind. It is fully Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold-certified; a goal planned for throughout the project's development, and includes several environmentally conscious features such as geothermal heating and cooling.
